KOTIX Tofu Carbon, 6 L is a clumping tofu cat litter with activated carbon. It's made of pressed soy fibre with food-grade starch and guar gum. The manufacturer states an absorbency of over 300% and moisture content below 10%. It's light and soft: a 6 L bag weighs 2.55 kg, the granules don't irritate paws, clump easily and don't crumble when scooped. Small amounts of used litter can be flushed down the toilet. It's certified to ISO9001, SGS and BSCI.
What tofu litter is
Tofu litters are made from pressed soy fibre, a by-product of food production. On contact with urine the granules swell and bind into a firm clump that's easy to scoop. The rest stays dry, so it needs changing less often than non-clumping litter. For how soy, wood, clay and silica litters differ, see how to choose cat litter, and all soy options are collected in tofu cat litter.

Activated carbon against odour
Soy fibre already locks odour inside the clump well, and the activated carbon in Carbon adds a fragrance-free absorber. It's handy for flats where the tray is in a bathroom or hallway, and for cats sensitive to scented litter. If you'd like a light scent, KOTIX also makes a green-tea version — see the KOTIX Tofu Green Tea review.
How to fill and how long it lasts
The manufacturer recommends a 5–6 cm layer in a clean, dry tray. For a standard 40×30 cm tray, a 5 cm layer is about 6 L — roughly one bag. Then scoop clumps and solids regularly, stir the litter every 1–2 days and top up as needed. Replace the litter completely about every 4 weeks, washing and drying the tray. With several cats, you'll use more. On choosing a tray, see which litter tray to choose.
Can you flush it
The manufacturer allows KOTIX Tofu to be flushed in small amounts. Flush one or two clumps at a time, not the whole tray. Don't flush it if your home has a septic tank or old pipes that clog easily — bin it with household waste instead. More in can you flush cat litter down the toilet.
Switching your cat to a new litter
If your cat is reluctant to use a tray with unfamiliar litter, the manufacturer suggests mixing KOTIX 1:1 with the old litter for a week, gradually increasing the new share. Note that a mix clumps and absorbs less well, so keep the transition short. If your cat starts going outside the tray, see cat not using the litter box: what to do.
Storage and safety
Store the litter in a dry place at up to +25 °C and humidity no higher than 45%, and seal an opened bag tightly, as soy absorbs moisture from the air. Keep it away from food and pet food and out of children's reach. Wash your hands after cleaning the tray. It has no expiry date; the production date is on the sticker.
Compared with other soy litters
We also stock other tofu litters: AnimAll Tofu Lavender, which is scented, and CROCI Tofu Clean. Choose KOTIX Tofu Carbon if you want odour control without fragrance. Other litter types are in the cat litter section.
Verdict
KOTIX Tofu Carbon is a light soy clumping litter with activated carbon: it absorbs well, forms firm clumps, is soft on paws and can be flushed in small amounts. It suits flats and cats sensitive to scents. The downsides are that flushing isn't suitable everywhere and the bag must be kept dry.
