Treatment and prevention of flea infestation.
A single application of the product prevents flea infestation for 4 weeks. For the treatment of flea allergy dermatitis, the product should be applied monthly.
Treatment of ear mange.
A single application of the product is required. Remove any loose crusts from the outer ear. Do not apply directly into the ear canal. Some animals may require additional treatment, so consult a veterinarian 30 days after treatment.
Treatment of mange (caused by Sarcoptes scabiei var. canis)
Treatment is carried out twice with an interval of 4 weeks.
Treatment of demodicosis (caused by Demodex canis)
Advocate is applied 2-4 times with an interval of 1 month. Treatment of concurrent conditions should be carried out where possible.
Prevention of heartworm disease
Dogs living in areas where heartworm disease is endemic, as well as those traveling to such areas, may become infested with adult heartworms.
To prevent heartworm disease, the product should be applied monthly throughout the entire mosquito season. The product should be used year-round or according to the following schedule: begin application at least 1 month before the start of mosquito activity and continue for 1-2 months after the end of the mosquito season.
Treatment and prevention of nematodes.
Monthly treatment against heartworm disease (as a preventive program) automatically reduces the risk of reinfestation with nematodes, cestodes, and hookworms.
Alternatively, the product can be used as a seasonal treatment against fleas and gastrointestinal nematodes.
Directions for use:
For external use only. Remove one pipette from the pack. Hold the pipette upright and remove the cap. Turn the cap over and place it on the pipette so as to remove the protective foil from the pipette opening.
For dogs from 4 to 10 kg:
The animal should be treated while standing. Part the fur between the shoulder blades so that the skin is visible. Apply the product to intact skin. Place the narrow end of the pipette against the skin and squeeze the pipette firmly several times so that the entire contents of the pipette are applied directly to the skin.
For dogs weighing from 4 to 10 kg:
For ease of application, the dog should be standing. The contents of the pipette should be applied at 3-4 points along the spine, starting between the shoulder blades and finishing at the base of the tail. At each application point, part the coat so that the skin is visible. Apply the product to intact skin where possible. Place the narrow end of the pipette against the skin and gently squeeze the pipette so as to release the contents onto the skin in portions. Do not squeeze a large amount of product onto one spot, as the solution may run down from the application site.
The product is approved for use in pregnant and lactating females.
Contraindications:
Do not use on puppies under 7 weeks of age. Treatment of animals weighing less than 1 kg, as well as sick or debilitated animals, should be carried out under veterinary supervision.
Side effects:
After application, dogs may experience brief itching. In rare cases, matting of the coat, skin redness, or vomiting may occur. All these effects resolve quickly without additional treatment. If an animal licks the applied product, nervous system effects may occasionally occur. Advocate has a bitter taste, so animals that lick the product may sometimes salivate. This is not a sign of intoxication; all symptoms disappear within a few minutes without additional intervention. Correct application minimizes the possibility of the animal licking the product.
Precautions:
Wash hands after treating the animal. Do not use other macrocyclic lactones during treatment with this product.
Useful information:
Do not allow the animal to enter open bodies of water for 4 days after treatment. Bathing does not reduce the product's effectiveness, however frequent use of immersion products (including shampoos) may reduce the effectiveness of Advocate.
Storage conditions and shelf life:
Store at a temperature not exceeding 30° C.
Pack: pipettes packed in blisters of 3 pcs.
