Form of release:
Bravecto is produced in the form of chewable tablets, packed 1 piece per sealed blister made of aluminum foil.
Directions for use:
Bravecto is prescribed for dogs for the treatment and prevention of flea infestation, as part of combined therapy for flea-induced allergic dermatitis, as well as for acariasis caused by ixodid ticks.
A contraindication to use is individual intolerance to the components of the product.
The product should not be used in puppies younger than 8 weeks of age and/or dogs weighing less than 2 kg.
Bravecto is given to dogs individually, orally, during or shortly before/after feeding, at a therapeutic dose of 25-56 mg fluralaner per 1 kg of body weight.
Bravecto has an appealing aroma and taste and is generally readily eaten by dogs; otherwise, the product is administered directly into the mouth or mixed with food.
Do not break the tablets.
Make sure the dog has fully swallowed the required dose of the product.
For dogs weighing more than 56 kg, a combination of tablets is used at a rate of 25-56 mg fluralaner per 1 kg of body weight.
The product may be used during pregnancy and lactation.
Repeat treatments, if necessary, are carried out after 12 weeks.
Mechanism of action
The mechanism of action of fluralaner involves blocking GABA-dependent and glutamate-dependent receptors in arthropods, causing hyperexcitation of neurons and disruption of nerve impulse transmission, leading to paralysis and death of ectoparasites.
After oral administration, fluralaner is readily absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and reaches systemic circulation; maximum plasma concentration is reached within 1 day, bioavailability is 20-27%, and feeding accelerates absorption.
Fluralaner is eliminated slowly, mainly unchanged in the feces (~90% of the dose) and partly in the urine; the half-life is 12 days.
The product begins to act 4 hours after administration and causes flea death within 8 hours of attachment to the host, and tick death within 12 hours, preventing re-infestation of dogs with ectoparasites. Fleas die before laying eggs, which prevents contamination of premises with eggs and larvae.
In terms of its effect on the body, Bravecto belongs to low-hazard substances (hazard class 4 according to GOST 12.1.007-76); at the recommended doses it has no embryotoxic, teratogenic, or mutagenic effects.
