Available form:
Bravecto is produced in the form of chewable tablets, packed 1 piece per sealed aluminum foil blister.
Directions for use:
Bravecto is prescribed to dogs for the treatment and prevention of flea infestation, as part of the complex therapy of flea-induced allergic dermatitis, as well as for acariasis caused by ixodid ticks.
A contraindication to use is individual intolerance to the components of the product.
The product should not be used in puppies younger than 8 weeks of age and/or dogs weighing less than 2 kg.
Bravecto is administered to dogs individually, orally, during or shortly before/after feeding, at a therapeutic dose of 25-56 mg of fluralaner per 1 kg of the animal's body weight.
Bravecto has an appealing aroma and taste and is generally readily eaten by dogs; otherwise, the product is given directly into the mouth by force or fed together with food.
Do not break the tablets.
Make sure the dog has fully swallowed the required dose of the product.
When treating dogs weighing more than 56 kg, use a combination of tablets calculated at 25-56 mg of fluralaner per 1 kg of the animal's body weight.
Use of the product during pregnancy and lactation is permitted.
Repeat treatments, if necessary, are carried out after 12 weeks.
Mechanism of action
The mechanism of action of fluralaner involves blocking GABA-gated and glutamate-gated receptors in arthropods, causing hyperexcitation of neurons and disruption of nerve impulse transmission, which leads to paralysis and death of ectoparasites.
After oral administration, fluralaner is readily absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and reaches systemic circulation; maximum plasma concentration is reached within 1 day, bioavailability is 20-27%, and feeding accelerates absorption.
Fluralaner is eliminated slowly, mainly unchanged in feces (~90% of the dose) and partly in urine, with a half-life of 12 days.
The product starts working within 4 hours of administration and kills fleas within 8 hours of attachment to the host, and ticks within 12 hours, preventing re-infestation of dogs with ectoparasites. Fleas are killed before laying eggs, which prevents contamination of premises with eggs and larvae.
In terms of its effect on the body, Bravecto is classified as a low-hazard substance (hazard class 4 according to GOST 12.1.007-76); at recommended doses it has no embryotoxic, teratogenic, or mutagenic effects.
