Composition and pharmacological properties:
1.0 ml of the drug contains the active ingredient: megestrol acetate (synthetic progestogen) - 20 mg.
The property of the hormone to inhibit sexual desire and ovulation is used to suppress estrus, shift the timing of its onset, correct sexual behavior, and also to avoid unwanted offspring. Complete restoration of the reproductive function of the animal's body occurs 2-3 months after stopping the drug.
Indications for use:
To delay or interrupt estrus in bitches and cats. Does not negatively affect the onset of pregnancy. In males and females, the drug inhibits sexual activity and regulates related behavioral problems.
Method of use and dosage:
Before use, the bottle of suspension must be shaken. Sexstop is administered orally with food or forcibly, directly into the oral cavity, on the root of the tongue in the following doses:
To cats:
When signs of sexual arousal appear in cats to correct behavior - 5 drops per 5 kg of animal body weight per day for 2 weeks, but no longer.
Cats:
To interrupt estrus:
• for cats weighing 1-5 kg - 8 drops daily;
• for cats weighing 6-10 kg - 10 drops daily for 8 days from the start of estrus. Do not use if 2 days have passed since the start of estrus.
It is recommended to interrupt estrus no more than twice a year. If it is impossible to determine the onset of estrus, it is better to delay it than to interrupt it.
To delay estrus:
• for cats weighing 1-5 kg - 4 drops;
• for cats weighing 6-10 kg - 6 drops every 2 weeks. Apply for the period for which it is necessary to delay estrus.
Bitches:
To interrupt estrus - 20 drops for every 5 kg of animal body weight, in the first 3 days; from days 4 to 10, take half the daily dose. It is recommended to use no more than two courses per year.
To delay estrus - 7-15 days before the start of estrus, 6 drops for every 5 kg of animal body weight daily. The maximum course is 32 days.
For males:
To reduce sexual arousal - 20 drops for every 5 kg of animal body weight for 7 days, starting no later than the second day from the beginning of sexual arousal.
Contraindications:
The drug is contraindicated for use in animals with diseases of the reproductive system (pyometra, metritis, endometritis), mammary tumors, diabetes, immature animals, pregnant animals and animals during lactation. It is not recommended for use in young females before their first heat or as anestral therapy for sexual dysfunction.
