DEHELMINTIZATION FOR CATS AND DOGS FOR NEMATODOSIS AND CESTODOSES

Composition

The drug is available in two modifications: “For dogs” (praziquantel - 15.0 mg/ml, pyrantel pamoate - 45.0 mg/ml, auxiliary components: polysorbate 80, sodium benzoate, xanthan gum, citric acid, propylene glycol, distilled water in 1 ml), "For cats, kittens and puppies" (praziquantel - 5.0 mg/ml, pyrantel pamoate -15.0 mg/ml, auxiliary components: polysorbate 80, sodium benzoate, xanthan gum, citric acid, propylene glycol, distilled water to 1 ml).

Application

Prevention and treatment of nematodes (toxocariasis, toxascariasis, uncinariasis, hookworm, trichuriasis), cestodoses (echinococcosis, taeniasis, diphyllobothriasis, dipylidiasis, mesocestoidosis), as well as mixed nematode-cestodiasis invasions in dogs and cats, starting from 2 weeks of age.

Pharmacological properties

PRANATHAN SUSPENSION has a wide spectrum of anthelmintic action on all phases of development of round and tapeworms, includingToxocara canis, Tohosaga mystax, Toxascaris leonina, Trichuris vulpis, Uncinaria stenocephala, Ancylostoma caninum, Echinococcus granulosus, Echinococcus multilocularis, Taenia spp., Dipylidium caninum, Diphyllobothrium latum, Mesocestoides lineatus and Multiceps multicepsparasitizing dogs and cats. The mechanism of action of praziquantel, which is part of the drug, is a disruption of intracellular calcium metabolism in cestodes, inhibition of fumarate reductase, disruption of the permeability of cell membranes of neuromuscular innervation, which causes spastic contraction of the muscles of helminths and leads to their death. Pyrantel pamoate blocks neuromuscular transmission in nematodes through persistent depolarization of postsynaptic membranes (cholinergic antagonist), which leads to paralysis and death of helminths. Pyrantel pamoate is poorly absorbed, which ensures its prolonged effect on helminths in the intestines and low toxicity to animals.
