Dolfos Dolvit Junior Mini, 90 tablets is a vitamin and mineral supplement for small-breed puppies from the Polish company Dolfos. The manufacturer recommends it during growth, from the third week of life, to top up vitamins, minerals and trace elements, strengthen immunity, improve skin and coat and support proper musculoskeletal development. Each tablet contains vitamins A, D3, E, K, B vitamins, biotin and choline, plus iron, manganese, copper, zinc, iodine and selenium. The tablet base is dicalcium phosphate, brewer's yeast and oyster-shell calcium. The dose is 1 tablet per 2 kg of body weight a day.
Does a puppy need vitamins
Puppy food already contains all the vitamins and minerals in the amounts needed for growth. So a puppy on complete food usually doesn't need a vitamin and mineral complex; it's given on veterinary advice, for example on a home-made diet, after illness or with a poor appetite. How to give it
The manufacturer recommends 1 tablet per 2 kg of body weight a day: half a tablet for a 1 kg puppy, one for 2 kg, two for 4 kg. Give the tablet by hand as a treat, crumble it into food or mix it with pâté. Recalculate the dose as your puppy grows — weigh it weekly. Fresh water should always be available.
Take care with minerals
The tablets are based on calcium and phosphorus sources. If your puppy eats puppy food with minerals already balanced, an extra supplement can lead to an excess. So check with your vet before starting, especially if your puppy is on commercial food. This version isn't intended for large-breed puppies, for whom excess calcium is particularly dangerous. On puppy nutrition, see what to feed a puppy by age.
Storage
Keep the tub tightly closed somewhere dry at room temperature and out of your puppy's reach — a dog may help itself to a dangerous number of tasty tablets.
Alternatives
For puppies and adult dogs there are, for example, Canina V25 multivitamins. If you need a mineral supplement for a home-made diet, see Beaphar Salvikal. All supplements are in the dog vitamins collection; food for youngsters is in the dry puppy food section.
Who it suits
Small-breed puppies on a home-made diet, and puppies whose vet has recommended vitamin support after illness, with a poor appetite or during rapid growth. For everything a puppy needs, see a new puppy: shopping list.

Dolfos Dolvit Junior Mini is a vitamin and mineral supplement for small-breed puppies from the third week of life, with a full range of vitamins and trace elements and an easy dose of 1 tablet per 2 kg. The downside is that it's usually unnecessary alongside complete food and can lead to excess minerals, so agree a course with your vet.
