Aniprazol by Livisto is a worming tablet for dogs and cats. Each tablet contains 50 mg of praziquantel and 500 mg of fenbendazole: praziquantel acts on tapeworms and fenbendazole on roundworms (adults and larvae) and some tapeworms. The dose is 1 tablet per 10 kg of a dog's weight, which makes it especially convenient for medium and large breeds. A cat up to 4 kg gets half a tablet. In composition Aniprazol is an equivalent of the well-known Caniquantel. The pack holds 6 tablets.
What it is and who makes it
Aniprazol is made by the European company Livisto (Invesa); our catalogue lists Italy. The praziquantel–fenbendazole combination is a classic canine deworming regimen: fenbendazole is effective against adult and larval nematodes, while praziquantel acts quickly on cestodes. Shelf life is 4 years.

Pros
- Handy for large dogs. 1 tablet per 10 kg — fewer tablets than products dosed per 4–5 kg.
- Fenbendazole. Acts on larval stages of roundworms as well as adults.
- Broad spectrum. Including whipworms and Echinococcus.
- For dogs and cats. Cats get half a tablet.
- Long shelf life. 4 years.
Cons and what to keep in mind
- Pregnancy. Not for pregnant bitches before day 39 of pregnancy; not for pregnant cats.
- Puppies. From 3 weeks of age and with a confirmed infection — as prescribed by a vet.
- Large tablets. For small dogs and cats it's easier to crush them into food.
- No flea cover. Combine deworming with flea control.
How to give a tablet to a large dog
Large dogs usually eat a tablet hidden in cheese, a training sausage or mince without fuss. Give one or two plain pieces first, then the piece with the tablet, and straight away another plain piece — the dog will swallow without chewing. If your dog spits it out, place the tablet at the back of the tongue, close the mouth and stroke the throat. Praise your dog and give a treat right after.
How often to deworm
Adult dogs are usually dewormed every 3 months for prevention, and before vaccinations and mating. For hunting dogs and dogs that eat raw meat or offal, a vet may advise more frequent treatment. Signs of infection and the general schedule are in worms in cats and dogs.
Who it suits
Medium and large dogs that would otherwise need many tablets, hunting dogs and dogs at risk of tapeworm infection. For comparison, see our Caniverm and Vormikil reviews. All products are in parasite control.
Verdict
Aniprazol is a convenient dewormer with praziquantel and fenbendazole: one tablet per 10 kg, a broad spectrum and a long shelf life. Keep the pregnancy restrictions in mind and give it to puppies only as prescribed by a vet.
Signs of worms in dogs
Infection often has no obvious symptoms, so deworming follows a schedule. Watch for scooting on the floor, white segments or worms in the stool or on the fur near the tail, vomiting or diarrhoea, weight loss despite a good appetite and a dull coat. Heavily infected puppies may have a swollen belly and grow poorly. With these signs, see a vet: sometimes a stool test is needed to choose the product and regimen.
