Rikka Clear Water, 100 ml is a conditioner from the Ukrainian maker Rikka for quickly clearing cloudy aquarium water and cleaning it at a chemical level. It binds particles the filter can't catch, as well as organic matter, phosphates and bacteria, and reduces chemical and biological oxygen demand. According to the manufacturer, the water becomes perfectly clear and fit for fish, and the resulting sediment is removed with the filter and a gravel vacuum. It can be used in an established tank or to prepare tap water.
How the conditioner works
Fine suspended particles are so light that they pass through the filter sponge and hang in the water column. The conditioner clumps them into flocs and binds dissolved organics, phosphates and some bacteria along with them. The larger flocs settle or get caught by the filter, and are then removed. Less organic matter means lower oxygen demand, which benefits the fish. Why water turns cloudy is explained in our review of JBL Clynol.

Pros
- Fast results. The water clears after one treatment.
- Binds phosphates. Less food for algae.
- Removes organics. Lowers the water's oxygen demand.
- Safe at the right dose. For fish and plants at the recommended amount.
- For preparing water. Tap water can be treated too.
- Economical. 100 ml treats 1,000 l of water.
Cons
- Water restrictions. Only at pH above 7.2 and KH above 3° — not for soft, acidic water.
- Don't overdose. The manufacturer warns against it explicitly.
- Doesn't fix the cause. Overfeeding and weak filtration will bring the cloudiness back.
- Sediment must be removed. With a gravel vacuum and filter cleaning afterwards.
How to use
Test the water first: pH should be above 7.2 and carbonate hardness above 3°dKH. Add 5 ml of conditioner per 50 l of tank water to an area with good circulation, such as the filter outflow. Don't exceed the dose. After a few hours the flocs will settle — remove them with a gravel vacuum and rinse the filter sponge in tank water. For preparing tap water, the manufacturer recommends using it together with other products in the range: Amoclin, Phosphoclin and Chloroclin.
Why pH and KH matter
The manufacturer's water limits are there for a reason: in soft, acidic water, conditioners like this work less well and can shift the water chemistry sharply, which is dangerous for fish. So before first use, buy liquid test kits for pH and carbonate hardness — they're useful for everyday monitoring too. If you keep a soft-water tank, for example for discus or angelfish, use other ways to tackle cloudiness: water changes, mechanical filtration and establishing beneficial bacteria.
If the water turns cloudy again
Recurring cloudiness is a sign the cause hasn't been fixed. Check you're not overfeeding: food should be eaten within 2–3 minutes — more in aquarium fish food: how to feed. Change part of the water weekly and vacuum the substrate. In a new tank, white cloudiness is a bacterial bloom, which settles once beneficial bacteria are established — for example with Rikka AKVA START. If you're just setting up a tank, see an aquarium for beginners: what to buy.
Who it suits
Fishkeepers with cloudy water in tanks with hard or neutral water, and for preparing tap water for water changes. More products are in the fish medicines and water care section.
Verdict
Rikka Clear Water is an effective, economical conditioner that quickly binds suspended particles, organics and phosphates and makes the water clear. It's safe for fish and plants at the recommended dose. The restriction is that it can only be used at pH above 7.2 and KH above 3°, and the cause of the cloudiness has to be fixed separately.
