Resun AIR-8000 is an air pump for aquariums from 100 to 600 l. Drawing 8 W, it produces an air pressure of 16 kPa (0.016 MPa). It has four outlets, each delivering up to 180 l of air per hour, or up to 720 l/h in total. Output can be adjusted with the built-in regulator, and the number of outlets in use lets you increase or reduce the air supply. The manufacturer calls it compact and able to oxygenate a 600 l tank.

Pros
- Four outlets. Run several air stones or several tanks.
- Plenty of output. Up to 720 l/h of air.
- Output regulator. The flow can be turned down.
- Economical. 8 W for this output.
- For large tanks. Up to 600 l.
- Compact body. According to the manufacturer.
Cons and what to watch
- Not for small tanks. The lower limit is 100 l.
- No noise data. The noise level is not stated.
- Contents not described. Tubing, air stones and a check valve are not mentioned.
- Depth limit. 16 kPa corresponds to roughly 1.6 m of water; the real working depth is less.
- Extra text on the card. The description ends with search keywords.
Why use an air pump
An air pump pushes air through an air stone: the bubbles mix the water and boost gas exchange at the surface, oxygenating the water. This matters most in large, heavily stocked tanks, in hot weather when warm water holds less oxygen, and during treatment when the temperature is often raised. For example, when treating white spot with products such as Rikka Ichthyocid, extra aeration does no harm.
How to connect it
Place the pump above the water level or fit a check valve on each line, which stops water siphoning back into the pump during a power cut. Attach tubing to the outlets, fit air stones on the ends and place them in the tank. Close any unused outlets if they have valves. Use the regulator to set the intensity, as a strong stream of bubbles can bother calm fish.
Using four outlets
The four outlets can be spread around a large tank for even aeration, or used to run several tanks and quarantine tubs from one pump. An outlet can also drive air-lift filters and air-powered ornaments.
Compared with the AC-9603
For a smaller tank, see the Resun AC-9603, rated for 50–400 l with two outlets and 5 W. The AIR-8000 is more powerful and suits large tanks or several tanks at once.
Filter and air pump
An air pump does not replace a filter: it only oxygenates the water, while the filter cleans it. In small tanks up to 60 l a filter with an aeration attachment is often enough, such as the Resun MINI. Large tanks need a powerful filter plus a separate air pump.
Safety and care
Stand the pump on a dry, stable surface, ideally on a soft mat to reduce vibration. Check the tubing for cracks from time to time and replace air stones when they clog and start producing large bubbles.
Noise
Diaphragm air pumps hum and vibrate. To reduce noise, put the pump on a mat or hang it up, keep it away from cabinet walls and do not run it at full output unless needed.
Which tanks
The AIR-8000 suits tanks from 100 to 600 l, from a mid-sized home aquarium to a large tank with cichlids or other big fish. Such fish can be fed, for example, Tetra Cichlid Sticks.
Who it suits
The Resun AIR-8000 suits owners of 100–600 l aquariums who need strong aeration with several air stones, and those with several tanks. Other equipment is in the fish equipment section, and setting up a tank is covered in aquarium for beginners.
Verdict
The Resun AIR-8000 is an 8 W air pump with four outlets at 180 l/h each, 16 kPa pressure and a built-in regulator for 100–600 l tanks. The downsides are that it is not for small tanks, noise level and contents are not stated, working depth is limited by its pressure, and the card carries irrelevant text.
